Aikido is a Japanese martial art. It was developed by Morihei Ueshiba in the late 1920's and is translates as "the Way of harmonious spirit.".

 Aikido trys to blend with the motion of the attacker and redirecting the force of the attack rather than opposing it head-on.

Instructors

 

All of our instructors are qualified Brittish Aikido Board level 1 coaches.

Collectively they have over 25 yrs experience in Aikido and are freindly and very approachable.

   They all practice Iwama Aikido and have a very good knowledge of both hand and weapon techniques. Their passion for the art can be easily seen in the way they teach and the way the students respond.

 Kids Classes

  Learning a martial art at a young age helps promote discipline, team spirit and self confidence. They learn Basic Aikido Techniques under supervision of our CRB certified instructors. That said fun is the basis of the kids classes. As well as the Aikido games are used to help with movement, spacial awareness and letting off steam. Gradings are also used to show the progression of the students .

  There are different classes for different age groups so they can practice and play with freinds of their own age size and ability.

Adult Classes

 

Iwama Aikido is open to all ages. It utilises weapon techniques as well as hand techniques, is fantastic at helping people to become more confident and fitter, whilst learning a practical and effective martial art.
